(Big Rig Fire)...It was reported at 1:48 Tuesday morning. The rig was eastbound on Interstate 8.

Just east of Meloland Road, the passenger side tires caught fire. The driver was able to stop the rig and call for help. By the time County Sheriff's Deputies  and CHP officers arrived the fire had spread to the trailer and the trailer was fully engulfed. Traffic was diverted until the fire was put out. The #2 land was closed several hours until the debris was cleared up. No injuries were reported.
