Mexicali Fire officials say the fire started in the basement of the theater. The basement is a storage area full of wooden furniture and other object. They did not say if the historic theater suffered fire damage, but there was a lot of smoke damage. One woman was treated for an anxiety attack, but no other injuries were reported. Officials say the cause is under investigation. No damage estimate has been made available.
