Yuma County Sheriff's deputies responded to a fatal accident Sunday morning.

The collision was reported at about 5:50 a.m. Sunday in the area of W. 8th Street and S. Alicia Avenue. A GMC 3500 dually pickup was westbound on 8th Street when a Kia Forte travelling at a high rate of speed ran into the rear of the truck. The driver of the Kia, a 20-year-old Somerton resident, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the pick up was taken to Onvida Health for treatment of minor injuries. The case remains under investigation but alcohol appears to be a factor in the accident.
