(California Highway Patrol Report on the Hit and Run).....The incident occurred early Thursday morning.

The CHP says dispatch received the call at around 1:23 Thursday morning. The initial call was of a pedestrian down on Worthington Road, east of Highway 111. The preliminary report indicates an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Worthington, at an unknown speed, approaching the pedestrian's location. For reasons, still under investigation, the unknown vehicle struck the 15-year-old pedestrian, causing the pedestrian to impact on the asphalt on the south shoulder of the road. The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was transported by air ambulance to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. The incident remains under investigation.
