The Monte Fire is now 90% contained.

The fire broke out on Tuesday, June 17 in an area near Lakeside. At one point there were over 700 personnel, 8 helicopters, and over 20 engines assigned to the blaze. As of noon Monday, CalFire says that the brush fire is over 90 percent contained and just 51 personnel remained on scene dousing hot spots. Overall, 1,100 acres burned, three firefighters suffered minor injuries and no structures were destroyed. Cleanup is expected to take several more days. Cause of the fire remains under investigation.
