(Imperial Irrigation District Board of Directors approves contribution).....It is to support the Safe Summer Water Activities.
The $40,0000 was approved at this week's Board meeting. The funds will be shared with 11 local entities to help offset expenses associated with keeping pools open, providing free or discounted swimming lessons, or providing safe water activities for youth and adults, such as water slides. The funds were included in the IID's 2025 Public Affairs Water Safety Budget. They will be distributed to the cities of Brawley, Calexico, Calipatria, El Centro, Holtville, Imperial and Westmorland, Heber Public Utilities, Niland Chamber of Commerce, County of Imperial and Imperial Valley Desert Museum. IID has presented its successful water safety campaign to elementary students in Imperial Valley for 66 years, reinforcing the life-saving message to stay away from canals.
