(Suspected kidnappers arrested)...Calipatria Police Department received the report June 10th.

There was a kidnapping and robbery of a Calipatria resident. The victim was able to give police information pertaining to the crime. The information was broadcast to other law enforcement entities. A vehicle matching the information had pulled into the Highway 111 Border Patrol Checkpoint. Border Patrol agents detained the vehicle and called Calipatria Police. Police arrived and interviewed the 3 occupants. It was determined they were the suspects they were looking for. Police arrested Sebastian Torres, Jesse Lizaraga and Annelie Mathews. They were charged with kidnapping, Robbery, Criminal threats, Damage of Communication Device, Conspiracy, Accessary and assault causing injury. A preliminary hearing was held recently and two of the suspects, 22-year-old Lizaraga and 21-year-old Torres entered not guilty pleas to the charges. No information was available for Mathews. One of the suspects is from Los Angeles. The other two are from Riverside County. Lizaraga and Torres will be back in Court next week.
