(Juneteenth is Thursday)....June 19th is the only day the holiday can be recognized.
It was June 19th, 1865 when the last slaves in Texas were notified of the Emancipation Proclamation giving them their freedom. Juneteenth is a Federal, State and County Holiday, which means a lot of services will be closed. The Post Office, Banks Courts, almost all Government offices. The Imperial Irrigation District offices will be closed. Emergency services will still be available, and IID emergency response to power outages will be in operation. Everything will return to normal on Friday.
