It will begin the Senate committee process on its way to the Senate floor. The bill allows for a pilot project aimed at increasing the generating capacity of Geothermal power plants eligible for local permitting. Assemblyman Jeff Gonzalez says the bill is a game changer for Imperial County and the region, where unemployment remains the highest in the state. Gonzalez said by expanding local permitting for geothermal power, this bill will bring much needed jobs, support the schools, and generate revenue for local governments, all while advancing California's clean energy goals.
