U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents assisted in rescuing a woman from the Colorado River Thursday.
A CBP Air and Marine Operations helicopter from the Yuma Air Branch discovered a capsized boat in the river about 22 miles south of Hoover Dam. There was a woman in distress by the overturned boat. The CBP helicopter landed on a nearby river bank and dispatched an EMT to aid the woman. She told the agent she had been there since the day before. She had struck her head and had lost consciousness. She was provided fresh food and water and the National Park Service (NPS) was notified. The Park Service arrived on the scene at about 7:00 p.m. Thursday and assisted the woman to safety.
