High winds are causing problems in the mountains.

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a High Wind Warning for the mountains between San Diego and Imperial County. The east winds were clocked at 30 to 40 miles per hour with gusts up to 70 miles per hour in San Diego County. The winds resulted in the California Highway Patrol diverting high profile vehicles from Interstate 8 between Crestwood and Ocotillo. San Diego Gas and Electric has also preemptively shut off power to communities in the affected areas. The High Wind Warning is in effect until at least 4:00 p.m. Tuesday.
