Governor Gavin Newsom has made several appointments.

Vivian Perez, of Holtville, has been reappointed to the Colorado River Basin Regional Water Quality Control Board, where she has served since 2021. Perez has been Project Director at Equus Workforce Solutions since 2023 and was Health Services Manager at Planned Parenthood from 2016 to 2022. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Public Administration degree from San Diego State University. The position requires Senate confirmation and the compensation is $250 per diem.

Former Imperial Valley resident Celeste Cantu was reappointed to the San Diego Regional Water Quality Control Board, where she has served since 2017. Cantu served as State Director at the United States Department of Agriculture Rural Development and previously Executive Director of the Imperial Valley Housing Authority. The position requires Senate approval. Cantu now lives in Temecula.
