(El Centro Police investigating a shooting)....As previously reported, the shooting occurred last Sunday.

Officers responded to a report of shots fired in the 1000 block of Sandalwood Drive. The call was received at around 1:30 in the morning. When officers arrived they found a 45 year old Hispanic male suffering from various gunshot wounds. Witnesses say they were woken up by the noise of the gunshots. They told police they saw a person wearing a mask exit the house. The victim was found in one of the bedrooms. Officers rendered aid to the victim and began life saving efforts until medical personnel arrived. The victim was rushed to El Centro Regional Medical center where he succumbed to his injuries. El Centro Police Department's Investigations Division responded to the scene along with the Imperial County Sheriff's Special Investigative Unit. The case is still under investigation
