A Yuma man is dead following a standoff with police.

At about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Yuma Police responded to the 3000 block of S. Ragen Drive after a report of a domestic disturbance. The suspect, a 34-year-old man, left the residence with a juvenile and barricaded himself in a house in the 11-000 block of Desert Air Boulevard. The Yuma Special Enforcement Team was activated and they called for the man to surrender. The suspect fired multiple rounds in the area of the officers. Negotiations were attempted but the suspect again fired at officers. According to Yuma Police this occurred several more times before officers returned fire, hitting the suspect. The man was taken to Yuma Regional Medical Center where he died. No one else was injured. The Yuma Regional Critical Incident Response Team has been activated to investigate.
