A Calexico building was destroyed in a Sunday fire.

The building, in the 300 block of East First Street, once housed the Calexico Orthopedic Clinic. Calexico Fire Department responded to the site at about 9:45 a.m. Sunday and immediately requested mutual aid from other departments. Imperial County Fire as well as personnel and equipment from Brawley, Calipatria , Holtville, El Centro, Westmorland and Yuma Fire Departments responded. The Red Cross also responded to provide relief to firefighters. Crews remained on the scene until shortly after 3:00 p.m. when the last of the agencies were released. Calexico Fire maintained an engine and crew on the scene to handle any fare-ups that might occur.
