(Summer 2024)....Summer officially just started.

The hot temperatures are already having an impact. The County Public Health Department says there have already been 9 heat related incidents. They report 5 cases of heat exhaustion and four cases of heat fatigue or dehydration. The Health Department suggests you know where the Cool Centers and Hydration stations are located before you go out. A list can be found at the Health Department website. They suggest you stay hydrated and wear loose fitting clothes. No deaths have been reported in imperial County. Mexicali has reported 3 fatal heat related incidents. All three were elderly people. One was an Ag laborer. Last year there were 191 heat related incidents in Imperial Valley. 22 of them were heat related deaths.
