The Imperial County Registrar of Voters has released the Official Final Results of the March 5, 2024, election. Nearly 19,958 ballots were cast, 22.63 percent of the county registered voters.
In the race for County Board of Supervisors District 2, Martha Cardenas-Singh and Diana Garcia-Ruiz will meet in November. Cardenas-Singh with 1,925 votes and Garcia-Ruiz with 1,349.
Margarita "Peggy" Price defeated Felipe Irigoyen for the Board of Supervisors District 3 seat. Price with 2,078 and Irigoyen with 1,967.
Ryan Kelley defeated four challengers and will retain his seat on the Board of Supervisors. Kelley garnered 2,198 votes, 56.16 percent of the ballots cast in the race.
The Imperial Irrigation District Division 3 race saw Javier Gonzales pick up 979 votes. He will meet Lewis Pacheco on the November ballot. Pacheco has 806 votes.
Judge Christopher Plourd handily defeated challenger Francisco Amador with 12,506 votes to 6,374.
Doctor Raul Ruiz will face Ian Weeks in November in the contest for U. S. House of Representatives District 25. Democrat Ruiz with 45.2 percent of the vote and Republican Weeks with 20.6 percent.
In the race for the State AssemblyDistrict 36 seat, Republican Jeff Gonzalez will meet Democrat Jose "Joey" Acuna in the November General Election. Gonzales picked up 35 percent of the vote to Acuna's 19.9 percent.
The Board of Supervisors is expected to accept the Certification of the Results of the Canvas from the election. Statewide results will be certified by April 12, 2024.
