An of road accident Thursday claimed the life of a Michigan man.
According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident occurred at about 4:00 p.m. in the open desert near Glamis in the Imperial Sand Dunes Recreation Area. A 2021 Polaris Razor, driven by 61-year-old Richard Eugene Nading from Sunnyside, Washington, overturned as it descended a dune embankment and a passenger in the UTV, a 68-year-old man from Michigan, suffered fatal injuries. Nading sustained major injuries and was flown to Desert Regional Medical Center for treatment. Both the driver and passenger were wearing safety restraints but neither one was wearing a helmet. The accident remains under investigation by the CHP and the Imperial County Coroner's Office.
